The Syracuse Chapter has varying success with our scholarship winners. A few have attended the June meeting as our guests, but none that I recall have become members. We have offered different incentives for attendance with no response. ------------------------------------------- April Kelsey, CAP Administrative Assistant C&S Engineers, Inc. -------------------------------------------

We haven't written anything into our criteria that the scholarship winner become a chapter member. We state on the application they should attend two chapter meetings. Two years ago the winner was a member of a Student Chapter and which we had started and she came to our meetings. Last year's winner has been very busy with family and school. Maybe our winner this year will be the one. He is an administrative professional and going to school at the same time. It would also be our first male member.
I think suggesting they come to meetings and considering joining the chapter is what you can do. When they visit your chapter and see what great benefits they can get it what will sell them. There's a difference between high school seniors and the more mature scholarship winners.
